I've wasted an obscene amount of time on Facebook while doing this painting. It was going badly so I was constantly seeking distraction. With my desk right behind me when I'm at the easel it's too much temptation! This never happens when work is going well (she said with complete conviction...). Anyway, I think I need to put away my acrylic paints for awhile. Spending 2010 becoming acquainted with oil paint has spoiled my enjoyment of my previous medium-of-choice.
I hope the result doesn't show my labours too obviously. It's a bit of an experimental one-off: a simple 24" x 24" acrylic painting with stencilled pine branches and small dragonflies to complement the three larger dragonflies. The leaves are cut from magazines and were a bit of a trial. I had to paint over a few but I left my secret subversive ones unpainted. Can you see James Dean, a woman's bare bum and a cross section of a man's brain? Excellent. Me neither.
