therapy

This is how I feel about everything right now: like I'm looking into the abyss. There are no answers there.

But there is some gratitude. My little money-raising effort (last post) has been successful and for that I am thankful. Plus, I've been getting therapy of the best kind. There are autumn hikes with this guy:

greg at lindeman lake

There's working with the horses at Circle F Horse Rescue and being followed around by this guy:

He's a food slut, so I have no illusions about my stellar personality being the draw. Especially since his stablemate thinks she can take a chunk out of me every time I groom her. I must admit that I will miss this large and lovely fellow, recently adopted. He is a truly regal-looking horse, but has a playful and quirky personality.

There's a weekend in Victoria for a beloved auntie's 90th birthday, and so the hiker guy can run a half marathon, meaning you might turn a corner and see this:

And there's those long drives, past the fields of the Fraser Valley on an autumn morning, when you might see a scene like this (Delta):

field near boundary bay

... or this (Abbotsford):

view from the farm 3

...or this (Surrey):

november morning port kells

It's all good.

If it was February right now I would be permanently excommunicating you for such a remark.

Thanks, lasses. And oh Val -- you need to be slapped for that! It's like me asking what that FANTASTIC brush is that you use! :) It's an elderly Nikon D70. Bought it well-used about 3 years ago and I've since put what was already a high-click camera into obscenely high clicks. Still, I want another lens for it. Maybe for Christmas... Should I ask hiking guy, d'you think?

andrea, i love this post. your photos are fantastic, as is your crow? or should i call it a raven?

i know what you mean about no answers. i know that only too well! it's true that it's actually harder when people feel they are moving up instead of down because in the moving up comes the question, "so is this all?"

like my own life, i look at what you have shared here and it's obvious you are in good hands. your passionate art, your loving mate, a horse to love, a land to appreciate. that's no abyss.

but i understand, because look behind you: it's me!

love
kj

The horse photo makes my heart ache in longing... at the loss of what I once had and did. But there is a potential new equine establishment in the wind here that will blow pretty much anything on the continent out of the water, and if it comes to be, since I have connections, I just might do volunteer stuff with the rescue/rehab horses.

Your scenic photos are lovely, but while I liked the winter temperatures out there, I sure didn't like the dampness. And since we are still (for a few days yet) enjoying above normal temps here, I'll stay put. ;-)

really? i would tell you in a heartbeat, i use little fine American Painter brushes, they are incredibly inexpensive and i can get very fine detail with the smallest ones :) i love your pix and the quality of picture always looks so good! i am always dreaming of buying another camera :D i have always had different versions of the cannon powershot.

Val: What? Are you saying that you paint so well because of your paintbrush? :)

Please don't excommunicate me for that reason!

Hmm...the abyss? I know it well, since their have been many days of standing on the edge of it and other days totally immersed in it! I'm glad you have the hiker guy! He's really cute! :) Sometimes it's the little things, adding up daily that counts for the flow of happiness. It would be great if it happened in large chunks, everyday! I think that maybe Nirvana...it's a magnificent, scary, rapturous, challenging, etc. journey. We're all in it together, whether we know it or not! I'm just glad to know that we're in it together, it helps. :)

Just a balance sheet alone might be all we need to remember this stuff!
