connections

connections

It's all about connections. Life is good when I connect: with an idea, with my environment, with my work and, most especially, with the people who matter to me.

Creativity is about taking things apart and looking at them differently: lateral thinking, stepping away from the crowd, independence, divergence. It's all about breaking down and re-analyzing. But to create something truly worthwhile means putting it back together again and, as a result, creating new and stronger connections.

I'm a lousy blogger because I like to look at the abstract and ironic, and overindulge in the metaphorical rather than 'seeking soul'. I'm a lazy worker, relying on either novelty (at one end of the spectrum) or routine (at the other end) to fuel my fire rather than digging in to make the connections that matter. I'm a person-needing-improvement because I allow relationships with people to fall apart. I need to quit seeking distraction in all areas of my life and start looking for meaning.

Time to cut out the noise and break things down so I can figure out how to put them back together. I need to shut up, reflect and figure out how to reconnect, and I'm starting here and now. If I fail you'll be the first to know. :)

And you've avoided calling a New Year Resolution! That has to be a good start!

(I also need to stop taking so many trips down dead-end roads; trouble is, those roads look so inviting...)

Well, I can identify with pretty much everything you've said there (especially as an expert in letting relationships fall apart). Congrats on putting a stake in the ground for change. I guess I would benefit from doing something similar...

Di: I don't do resolutions. I'm not good with guaranteed failure.

Peras (F): And to you!

Andy: I just hope that stake doesn't come unstuck before I even get into the starting blocks!

Paula: Dear friend ~ then you will forgive me if I am silent for a bit. And I love using photography more and more. My beloved Nikon is my single most important possession.

We are both over-thinkers! A very interesting post that makes me think about my life too.

Tara: Thanks but don't hold your breath... :(

Vic: And what do you think of my illustrative photo? I used my lamp and laptop plugs to illustrate. They're very accommodating models.

I very seldom comment however I do visit alot. I can identify with some of what you said. When I realize I've slipped back into before, I try to stop after I quit feeling guilty about it. The reality is we're creatures of habit and it's oh so hard to change habit.
