hashim hannoon

I'm not planning on turning this into an artists-of-western-Canada blog, but today's e-mailout from Mayberry Fine Art in Winnipeg introduced me to relocated Iraqi artist Hashim Hannoon's work and I wanted to share it. Suddenly I want to go gallery hopping in the prairies. How weird is that?

Really rather appealing. Who woulda thunk going to the Prairies to seek out art. Oh, and do Andy and Opie hang out at Mayberry Fine Art?

There is something familiar in this.Could it be a little Pratt-ish, with that red, the iconic figures?

(Mr. Writeon is showing his age!)

Angela: Did you see his other work? It was so hard to decide which painting to use.

Ian: What Di said. :)

Di: I love you! You know me so well.

Yes, I had to visit the link you provided right away!

I can see why you had a hard time deciding which painting to use. But I was surprised to see that his most recent paintings were from 2005. Do you know if he's still painting?

Hmmm... I may have to wander down to Mayberry - I LOVE that painting!

And... you'd certainly be welcome in Winnipeg for your gallery tour!

Finally checked out the Mayberry site!
:0) Looking at all the colors and shapes in his art just makes me very happy this morning.

Love your new business cards, too. Your crow painting is perfect for it.

(Thanks for your comments on my blog! My son just turned 19 last month, and I finally feel like I can focus on me for the first time in my life. I wouldn't change anything though. Every sacrifice has been worth it. My daughter turns 21 in a few months, and will be going abroad to study, and possibly to stay. All those long years went by in a flash, after all!)

Wow! Glad I decided to go blog surfing today. Hashim Hannon is a find. Stunning. I fully understand why you'd feel like gallery hopping on the prairies. Next time I'm west, I hope I get a chance to get back to Red Deer and Winnepeg. That's after I visit family in US NW states and do the same there!
